Is There An Award For Being Wrong?

Hoo boy ... I didn't do so hot on these. Again, to be fair, out of all the nominated movies in all the categories put together, I saw exactly two. That's not an excuse just an explanation. But it did make me curious enough to go back and check my performance in prior years. Most prognosticators forget that they even made predictions about two seconds after they are proved wrong. Not me! I stand by my ineptitude.

There are 24 awards given out each year. Below are the number of my predictions that were correct.

2005: 11 (45%)
2006: 14 (58%)
2007: 7   (29%)

Tidbits:

  • I have gotten Best Actress and Best Actor correct all three years. (Immutable Law #1 never fails.)
  • I have never gotten Costume Direction or Animated Short Film correct.
  • I got Best Picture wrong all three years.

What does all this mean? It's proof that any way you slice it, Paul Haggis films are wildly overrated.

I'm glad you're confronting your prognostication failures. Hopefully you can better serve us in the future.
