Right now, CNN has a photo of a dead woman on its front page. You can't see her face, but she's just been murdered in a mall in Salt Lake City. No, she's not a celebrity and no they didn't pay $500,000 for the shot, but isn't this as equally crass, tasteless and exploitative as anything Entertainment Tonight, the New York Post or hell ... CNN has ever done? I used to really respect CNN, but they've become no better than the most sensationalist tabloid. I think maybe it's time I got rid of their bookmark and just ignored them altogether.

I don't know if you remember it but a while back there was a spate of murders in England, of prostitutes working in the Ipswich area.

At the time the Telegraph newspaper ran a front-page with the faces of each dead woman.

The pictures they chose, and always choose, to depict a dead person are always the same. They always look terrible and like its from the 1970s or they are in uniform of some kind - school/police/military etc.

I held up the front-page and made the point, you can instantly tell these women are dead, even if you knew nothing of the story, had no headline, nothing.

You could just say, what do these women have in common? And people are instantly conditioned to know.

I'm not sure what the whole point of this rambling is, but its a strange trait of journalism. Which morbidly led me to wondering what my murdered Zini shot would look like. Its not funny, I have some holiday photos from Florida they'd use from when I was 19. The sun, the sea, and having something of a jew-fro at the time are my primary reason to not want to be murdered as I lie alone in my bed at night.

Nobody wants to be remembered like that.
